A Note on Generative AI Images

Generative AI platforms can produce visually impressive images, but print places greater demands on image quality than digital screens.

Whenever possible, submit the highest-resolution version available and avoid excessive post-processing that introduces artifacts.

If you're unsure whether a file is suitable for print, we're happy to review it before layout.

Preparing Your Images for Print

To ensure your work reproduces beautifully in print, please review the following guidelines before submitting your images.

QUALITY CHECK:
Before submitting, please review your images for any unintended AI-generated artifacts, including distorted anatomy, duplicated objects, unexpected textures, or visual inconsistencies. If these elements are intentional and part of your artistic concept, please include a brief note with your submission.

Image Resolution

For best results, submit images at:

  • 300 PPI (Pixels Per Inch) at the final print size whenever possible.

  • Larger files are always preferred over smaller ones.

If your image was created using generative AI, please upscale the image before submission if necessary.

Image Dimensions

Please export your work at the highest resolution available.

Recommended minimum:

  • 3000–5000 pixels on the longest edge

Higher-resolution files provide greater flexibility for full-page layouts and double-page spreads.

File Formats

Preferred:

  • PNG (.png)

  • JPEG (.jpg) at maximum quality

Avoid screenshots, compressed images from messaging apps, or social media downloads.

Color

Please submit files in:

  • Adobe RGB (1998) or sRGB

We'll handle any necessary color conversion for print during production.

Avoid AI Upscaling Artifacts

Before submitting, review your images carefully at 100% zoom.

Check for:

  • distorted fingers or anatomy

  • duplicated objects

  • warped typography

  • unwanted textures

  • AI hallucinations

  • excessive sharpening

  • compression artifacts

Small issues become much more noticeable in print.

Cropping

Whenever possible:

  • avoid placing important details near the edges

  • leave enough breathing room around your subject

  • submit the uncropped original if available

This gives us flexibility during the editorial layout process.
